Plan for growth with Australian Apprenticeships

What are they?

Australian Apprenticeships is the name used to describe both apprenticeships and traineeships. They are jobs that combine paid work and structured training and lead to a nationally recognised qualification.

Australian Apprenticeships are available to anyone of working age and do not require any entry qualifications.

Who is involved

  • an employer (either you or a Group Training Organisation)
  • the apprentice or trainee
  • MEGT Australian Apprenticeships Centre (AAC): for registration, eligibility and payment of government incentives
a Registered Training Organisation: to deliver training, conduct assessments, issue qualifications
    (traineeships only)
  • State Training Authority: the State Government body which is responsible for registration of your Australian Apprenticeship.

Over 500 traineeship and apprenticeship vocations are available in a range of areas.

Traineeships generally take between twelve to twenty four months to complete and include skills such as Business, Retail, Community Health, Child Care, Financial Services and many more.

Apprenticeships generally last between thirty six to forty eight months and cover trade areas such as Building and Construction, Horticulture, Cooking, the Automotive industry, Engineering, Manufacturing and many more.
