About Us


In 1995 ALM Pty Ltd was launched and in 2000 the company name changed to Show Works Pty Ltd (Show Works). Show Works first big theatrical
set build was Beauty and the Beast in 1996 and from there the work carried on. Show Works were fortunate to form an agreement to being a part of set building for every Australian Ballet Production since then.

Show Works enjoys a reputation throughout the theatrical set building industry for exacting standards and depth of experience needed to solve problems and challenges effectivley and creativley. With Show Works involvement in productions such as The Addams Family, King Kong, The Producers, Wicked, Jersey Boys, Scooby Doo, Strictly Ballroom and many more, we are proud to say we have provided a production support to almost every major show that has come to Australia in recent years.

Show Works is capable of providing bump in assistance as well as drapery, fibre glassing, sculpting and stage electrics.

In 2010 Show Works decided with all the experience and visionary ideas of the Dance Rehearsal Product line, this has served to expand Show Works into Dance, Fitness Education, Rehabilitation and Architectural Markets. This prepared the company to move forward and in the recent years Show Works Dance and Fitness equipment have become extremely popular and high in demand. Show Works has worked with many studios such as The Australian Ballet, Chunky Move, Opera Australia, Victorian Opera, Queensland Ballet, Dancing with the Stars, Glen Iris School of Dance, Victorian College of the Arts, Fitness First, Armature Pilates, MacKillop College and many more.

Show Works is proud of its staff and the range of qualities and skills that they bring to the company. With an eclectic and diverse group of skilled tradespeople and trainees, Show Works are able to work with clients to ensure expectations are met. Show Works employees; come from all around the globe (Britain, the Philippines, New Zealand and of course Australia) bringing complimentary skills set.

Our skill set includes the following – Carpentry, Joinery & cabinetry, Metal working including Mig, Tig and Arc welding, Automation, Casting and Plastic fabrication.

As well as this, Show Works employs many of Melbourne’s finest artisans to perform niche functions including soft prop fabrication, sculpting and scenic art.

The team on the workshop floor is ably led by our foreman Simon Greaves who started with Show Works over 12 years ago. In the interim Simon took up the position of Lead Carpenter at Cirque du Soleil in Macau for a period of 3 years before returning to Show Works.

Our head draftsman, Andy Norman joined Show Works in 2006 prior to which he held the position of senior draftsman in the UK.
Show Works is proud to have 14 full time production staff including two trainees, who have been vital to the growth of the company.

In 2010, Show Works launched Sprung Floor by Show Works, a cost effective, semi portable flooring option.

Corporate Responsibility (CR) for Show Works is an approach that inspires responsible business management. For Show Works, it is the way we manage our commercial and societal responsibilities for the benefit of our stakeholders.

Our Corporate responsibility approach, Show Works operates efficiently and profitably in the Australian entertainment industry. This provides jobs, incomes and skills training to nurture new talent, thus ensuring that we build a sustainable talent pool for the industry. Our CR approach also includes the need to provide our customers with quality products and services.

Show Works conducts its corporate social responsibility in accordance with laws, regulations and industry codes. Our 19 years of leadership in the set building industry brings with it, a responsibility to society – to the communities where we conduct business. At our workshop, we engage in lean manufacturing practices to minimize the waste from our manufacturing process and reduce its impact on the environment. Our raw material – timber used for manufacturing our Huské floor range is sourced from Araruco – Growing Future. Araruco are known for their certified sustainable forestry practices and minimal carbon foot printing.

Recently, as part of an overall carbon reduction policy, we too have started working on an initiative of charting our carbon footprint. We hope that through our integrated CR approach we address the issues that impact our broader community and provide support through sponsorship, partnerships and encouraging social causes. We aim at lean business processes that benefit the well -being of Australians and reduce the negative impact of our operations on the environment.
